“WOW,” JARED SAYS BREATHLESSLY as he turns on his back next to me.

I’m thinking the same thing, but I can’t speak. That was like movie sex. When I felt him inside of me, it was like the perfect fit. We adjusted our positions without ever missing a beat. I orgasmed three times and that’s never happened before. I feel Jared’s fingers begin to caress my thigh and I tremble.

“Are you okay?” he asks.

I smile. “Yes, just aftershocks I guess.” Jared laughs. I turn and look at him. For some reason, the sight of his green eyes jolt me back to reality. “What have I done?” I jump out of the bed and fumble around for my clothes.

“Portia, slow down,” Jared says calmly as he climbs out of bed. The sight of his naked body only makes me move faster. “It’s going to be okay.”

“Are you crazy? I just cheated on my husband. What kind of person does that? That’s not me. I’m going to hell.” Suddenly Jared is next to me holding my shoulders.

“Well I don’t regret it. You were wonderful and this felt so right.”

I can’t believe he’s saying what I was just thinking, but it doesn’t matter. “It doesn’t matter how it felt, it wasn’t right.” I pull myself away from him and start to put my shoes on.

“Don’t you want to wash up before you go?”

“My goodness, you’re right. David will probably smell the sex on me.” I look at the time. “I’ll just have to hope I can get to the shower before he notices. May I use your bathroom?”

“Yes,” Jared says looking like a dejected puppy.

While I’m in the bathroom, I feel even worse. I just ruined a practically magical event with my panic and fear. Jared probably feels like shit with the way I’m trying to run out. When I come out, Jared is standing there shirtless, in basketball shorts, holding my purse and keys.

“I get the feeling you’re in a rush.” He gives me a half smile.

“I’m sorry,” I say as I grab my things and begin walking down the hall.

“It’s okay. This is not an ideal situation.”

When we make it to the door, I turn to Jared and say, “This can’t happen again.”

“How about you take some time to process what just happened before you make that decision?”

“I’m married.”

“I’m aware.”

“That means I’m off limits.”

“Maybe you should ask yourself if you want to be.” He kisses me on my forehead. “I had a great time tonight. I really hope I get to see you again.”

I just stand there. “Jared, I’m sorry. I don’t know what to tell you.”

“That’s fine, but I’ll be here if you need me.”

“Okay, thanks.” I turn and leave. As I drive away, the thought of Jared inside of me sends a tingle through my body. I think I’ve opened up Pandora’s box and I have no idea what the hell I’ve unleashed.

I arrive home and see that David still isn’t home. I guess I was worried for nothing. I head straight to the bathroom to take a shower.
